The credential levels
Which level is right for you?
Most people start at the Certified or Licensed level — and Video 3 above will help you figure out where you fit. Either way, both levels require you to complete the educational requirements for that level and attend a New Credentials Orientation, whether live or online.
Certified
Certified minister
This is the entry point for most new applicants. If you sense God's call on your life and you are actively involved in some area of ministry or gospel proclamation, this is likely where you begin. You can serve full or part time, and depending on where you are in your journey, the network credentials committee may ask you to serve under the guidance of a pastor, coach, or mentor.
Licensed
Licensed minister
Licensing is for those who are further along — people with a clear sense of calling, a track record of ministry experience, and a genuine commitment to spend their life in gospel work. If that describes where you are, and your character and preparation reflect that calling, you may be ready to pursue licensing as your starting point.
* A note on ordination. In rare cases, someone coming from another recognized denomination who is already ordained may be able to enter directly at the ordination level. If that might be you, reach out to our office before starting the application process so we can talk through your situation.
